I was introduced to climbing as a child by my father, who is an experienced mountaineer and accomplished rock climber. It started as general walking in the mountains and progressed to winter mountaineering and it wasn't long before I had experience in most mountain terrain and conditions. He taught us all the essentials of good climbing technique as well as the basic rock climbing.This did not progress any more until a friend in the RAF teamed up with me to get the equipment required for modern rock climbing. With regular climbing trips to Wales we steadily progressed up through the grades. For me this progressed further after leaving the RAF, I moved to Wales where I teamed up with some experienced local climbers, this allowed me to progress through the higher grades and learn about advanced technical climbing.
My main climbing area is North Wales though I also make the occasional trip to the Lake District and Peak District. Further details of these areas can be found by following the links on the side bar. If you would like to find more information on climbing then I would suggest some obtaining books on the subject. To make things easier, I have listed some of the good books about climbing on my books page. I have also listed some of the websites that can be found on the subject in my links section. There are some good sites, well worth checking out.
