Welcome to my Sub-Aqua Diving Section
My interest in scuba diving first started when a friend introduced me to it back in 1987, this was like a come and try it session in a swimming pool. I did not actively start though until the autumn of 98 when I joined BSAC and the Gwynedd Sub-Aqua Club. After a winter of pool training the first dives were at the Dorothea Quarry, one of which ended in tragedy for a diver of a visiting club, who were diving in the quarry when we arrived. This might of put some people of diving for ever, but for me and some other members of the club it showed that regular maintenance and servicing of equipment, as well as a secondary air supply are necessary for diving in place's like Dorothea. This dive site was always a bit of a mystery with most divers only having a limited knowledge of the quarry layout, so I made it one of my projects to produce a detailed map of the site. The first year of diving showed me that I would not have to travel far to find so very rewarding dive sites, on my third dive I held an octopus and before long I was seeing starfish, crabs, sea horse… I was hooked! and we don't even have to mention wreck diving. My main diving areas are the North Wales coast from Aberdaron to Llandudno, as well as the two main inland diving sites of Dorothea and Vivian Quarry's; I also make the occasional trip to Scotland. Further details of these areas can be found by following the links on the side bar. If you would like to find more information on Diving then I would suggest obtaining books on the subject. To make things easier, I have listed some of the good books about diving on my books page. I have also listed some of the websites that can be found on the subject in my links section. There are some good sites, well worth checking out. |
