Welcome to my Caving Section
Caving for me has always be an extra pastime rather that a main hobby. I have always had an interest in caves but it never
progressed from the read books stage until my brother Andrew Wells and I went on an advanced guided trip that explored the cave system beyond the normal show caves in the Cheddar Gorge. We quickly got the basic equipment and started to explore some of the easier cave systems in the Mendips. Back in North Wales there was not a plentiful supply of cave systems, all was not lost though, a climbing partner had an interest in exploring abandoned mine systems. I made numerous trips in North and Mid Wales where we explored a lot of the main mining areas; with Andrew joining the team for more the more advanced trips like Cwm Ystwith and The Croesor-Rhosydd system. Andrew now lives in North Wales and we now regularly team up to explore any areas underground in Wales, which now include ex military sites like abandoned ROC bunkers (royal observer corps) left over from the cold war. We have decided to start documenting some of are trips, and to that end we have set-up a web site dedicated to Subterranean Wales. You will find any information on trips that we have done there. If you would like to find more information on Caves, Caving, Mines or any other on underground sites, then I would suggest you check out my books page. I have also listed some of the websites that can be found on the subject in the links section. There are some good sites, well worth checking out. |
